Anyone have experience with a skid steer rock crusher like the FAE?
I run an FAE mulcher and looking to diversify. I've seen the videos and know what my mulcher will do to rocks and stumps but haven't had a chance to demo a rock crusher.
I know they are EXPENSIVE but when I can make my own gravel and rehab a rocky, steep road at the same time, it becomes an attractive idea. I used a tushhog for a few years and it had rock teeth that I used on rough roads. Did a good job but it didn't contain the material and rocks went flying everywhere.. not so good for laying the crushed gravel out.

comments appreciated.

I'd like to find out some about it too. When I bought my Fecon, the dealer had one and my mind started spinning thinking of the posibilities. I'd like to see a demo, but I haven't found a dealer in New Mexico. The dealer I bought the Fecon from is in San Antonio, TX.
If you get a demo set up, and don't mind, contact me I might be able to catch a flight down to see one work and get to shake your hand.

does fecon have one for a skid steer? I've only found the FAE. I had the opportunity to mulch rocks with my FAE the other day.. I even considered buying a beat up tushhogg, building a trap door for it and using it as a rock eater. I had a tushhogg once and it did an okay job of eating rocks down to 3" below surface but threw rocks about 100 yards.. not safe.

A true rock crushing attachment would make my road jobs a lot more competitive.

No, the dealer I got my Fecon from carries Rayco machines, and FAE attachments.
Tushogg's a pretty good head for real abusive conditions, but I don't know how long it would hold up as a rock crusher.
Most of the jobs I do, I have to "rehab" the roads on the property after we're done with the thinning. Some of these roads were never in good shape. At the price of 1 1/2" base corse, and trucking I think I could pay for one of these rock crushers fairly quick.
I'd like to see one work before taking the plunge though.

I've been eyeing the old fashioned toggle jaw crushers. We've ton tons and tons of fieldstone here and lot of roads that need improved. I'm thinking one on the 3 point hitch driving down my roads while tossing all the adjacent rock piles in would be great.

There is a guy with the mericrusher (Spelling?) rock crusher here on the back of a 300 hp Fendt. He only does lot clearing, he saying crushing ag fields is still too expensive and they use rock pickers for that.
