Skid steer rotary mower?

I'm looking too and the Bobcat Brushcat looks good for me. It only cut 3" trees but it has a roller on the back that makes it a good field mower

I demo'd a Brushwolf 4' mower for my ASV RC30. I was not impressed- after about 1/2 hour it rolled the 1/4" key that connects the motor to the mower. I think it retailed for about $4600. I built my own out of a rotted out Howse 4' 3 point hitch mower from Central Tractor, that I picked up used. I used 1/4" plate for the upper deck and sides, and a hydraulic motor from Surpluscenter.com. I have less than $2K in it and I'd put it up against any commercial unit!:) :)

I talked to Bobcat about their rotary but it has a saftey that you can't pick it up more than a foot or two off the ground. I would like to option to raise the unit and lower it on a shrub/sapling. I think this is the same unit as the Bobcat -->
Quick Attach - Brush cutter

I do have a new welder but I am not sure if I have the "know how" to make one. Thanks for the info on the Brush Wolf...

The Bradco seems well built and I can get it at a good price, I do like the cut out front of the Davco, US Mower and Vortex but the prices are steep and if I get in to anything that tough I will used my mulch head.

QD:

I have an Ambusher 66" rotery mower that I use on my Cat skidsteers. It is set up for Highflow use. It will and does cut up to a 7" tree and will perform limited mulching on soft species. I use it wher fine mulching is not required such as survey and topo lines, and for felling thick underbrush ahead of my mulchers. It works GREAT!!!!!. Cost was around $ 9,000.00. Highly recommended.

That doesn't look anything like the one on the Bobcat website: Brushcat Rotary Cutter Attachment - Bobcat Company

I knew there was something that I forgot to mention. Most of the mowers that you can buy have limiting chain which keeps the mower low to the ground. This is mandated by the letigious society in which we live. Also, some MFR's require that you have a door on the loader. All of this assumes that the operator has no common sense. If you have employees, these measures may be necessary, due to OSHA rules. If you do make your own, keep this in mind!
