Ok Boys- I need your guidance. I'm a divorced horse business owner and I'm new to the whole equipment maintenance thing (ex always did it!). I bought a 2004 LS170 from the dealer a year ago and after it recently popped an error code (FOA electrical code), it occurred to me that I probably need to do some of the regular maintenance on it. I figured out how to grease it and have done that periodically so don't face palm yourselves too hard. ;)

The dealer didn't give me an owners manual but I managed to find and download the service manual. In it's 741 pages, it gives me all the part numbers, fluid types and how much but it's difficult to find the intervals. Does anyone have a generic skid steer service schedule you'd be willing to share? It has 1130 hours on it.

Which fluids need to be completely replaced and how often?
Which fluids just need to be topped off and how often should I check it?
Which filters need to be replaced? how often?
Which filters do I need to just clean out?

I do have mechanical friends that can supervise and answer basic questions but they have their own busy lives too and I'm mostly on my own. I need something I can put in a spread sheet to keep track of because I will never remember on my own. Thank you!

I can't answer these specifically, but there should be a table towards the back of the owner's/operator's manual which shows the service intervals for all the different things you do to the beast.

I found a service manual but I don't see such a table in that.

I found this: New Holland LS16 LS17 Operators Owners M.pdf download - 2shared
If you look at p.3-2 you'll see an interval chart for lubes (3-1 shows the recommended types).
Also see p.4-4, and probably elsewhere.

Yeah you need an owners manual not just the service manual. It will tell you when to change.

As for checking fluid levels you can never do it too much. It would depend on how many hours you put on the machine.

We take care of 4 horses. However we are in process of building pastures. So a lot of tractor hours w the tiller. So I check fluids weekly. Once that project is done I would probably check ever 10 engine hours.

You can never grease enough. Well ok you can.
