Since building the landleveller for my neighbours tractor I have realised the benefit of having an adapter to lift tractor implements with my skidsteer. It is a category 2 type hitch which is the most common hitch used in Ireland. I have started a design in 3D cad and was just looking to share my ideas and maybe get some feedback off people. My goals in the design are

1. The bottom two pick ups can be connected without leaving the seat. ( The width of the pick ups will be adjustable and will have to be set before trying to lift the implement) Upon lifting the latches should open and let the pins enter the hook. They should then return into the original position and lock the pin in place.

2. Once the bottom two pick ups are connected then the top link can be attached by angling the loader so that the top link latch lines up with the pin and by pushing the top link latch downwards where it will latch into place.

3. Disconnecting the implement will be the same steps in opposite. I hope to put a pull cord to open the bottom two latches and manually open the top one with the lever when doing this. I am also contemplating putting in lynch pins that lock the implement in even though the latches are designed to prevent this so that it is impossible for an attachment to fall off.

4. I hope to be also able to move trailers with this implement also by adding a ball hitch in the centre

I havent shown the pick up points for the skid steer yet but I will hope to angle it slightly so that I can tilt the attachment towards the skid steer cab if needed.

I have attached a few screenshots and a 3dpdf for anyone who is interested to have a look.

Thanks,
Ron

Woodlandfarms,

I have never seen that design before. Interesting. Thanks for the link. I think for implements like the land leveller and bale spikes and bale lifters I'd go with a design like mine as I want to keep the load as close to the skid steer as possible. But in terms of driving toppers and fertiliser spreaders that would be ideal. At the minute I have no plans to use a PTO so I will probably stay away from that option.

Rogermc,

That looks more like a 3 point hitch to skid steer adapter where you use skid steer implements on your tractor but I have seen a good few of them online.

Thanks for the feedback
Ron

I don't understand why your top bracket is upside-down...

I think it should point upward like the one I'm contemplating...

What about just buying a pre-made skid steer adapter plate for ~$100-150 and buying the Harbor Freight Category 1 Quick Hitch for ~$100 and welding them together?

Hi Bugsyinc.,

The top link pin will not provide any lifting force and therefore it is to prevent the implement from rotating about the lower pins. the reason I put it on upsidedown is that I can just lean out of the skidsteer cab and push it down to connect the top link. I will be connecting directly to the implements not using a top link.

Regards,
Ron

I would love to be able to do that but unfortunately in Ireland them parts are not available and if they were you would pay top dollar for them. I can get the parts plasma cut at a reasonable cost and I also enjoy the design and build of these implements.
