I have recently bought a John Deere 4000 series compact tractor model 4520 with a 400X front loader. Does anyone know which adapter works best to enable the front loader to accept skidsteer attachments and where I can find one? I am located in southern New Hampshire. Thanks for the information.

I use the JD one. Works fine. However, you will also have to change to a different bucket or weld a skid steer attachment plate on the bucket. Maybe your dealer will exchange buckets?

This is the one you want. Check out the little picture on the right hand side of their web site. It is an adapter that slips onto the existing JD quick attach loader system and converts it to skid steer quick attach. Allows you to have the best of both worlds.

ATI Corporation - Tach-All(tm) Quick Attach

Horst Welding also makes a QA adapter. I have one. Works great. Last I checked it was less $$$ than the ATI (which is also well liked).

Are you suggesting the ATI conversion product over the John Deere brand to convert John Deere FEL to accept quick attach skid steer impliments? If so, I am curious as to why. Quality, price, or other reason?

Thanks.

I don't think that was the intention. With the JD product you have to remove the current Quick attack adapter for your bucket and then attach the Skidsteer adapter - kind of time consuming process - and one that I don't think you would do often. The ATI product it just mates to your exisitng quick attach adapter and allows you to quickly switch between regular and skidsteer atachments - albiet with a slight reduction in lift capacity because the additional weight and extension.

I see Loogie. That of course makes a lot of sense. Given that crtitical distinction, the ATI or similar adapter seems to offer more versatility and would be more practicle.

Thanks for the very helpful clarification! It certainly will assist me in making an informed purchase.

I use the ATI on my Ford 2120 and have for many years. mine is attached right to the loader pins and the bucket was modified by welding on the female connector. The ATI is very rugged and works excellent. Better than the New Holland adapter I have on my TN.

How much did the ATI run you, for both the adapter and the weld on plate for your bucket?

Also how much did the Horst Welding equivalent cost?

Thanks
