2015 John Deere 5115M, 1928 and 1945 hand start John Deere D's,
Just wondering if anyone has experience with using a loader mounted post hole auger, such as used on skid steers on their tractor. I found this one nearby from Baumalight ..:: MTBMFG ~ Auger Drives ::.. and it appears it would be within the specifications of our 5740c(although on the low end) it is rated for 6-14 gpm at up to 1500psi and the 5740 is rated at 8.72gpm. I can't seem to find what psi our hydaulics are, although I see our hoses on the loader are rated significantly higher than 1500psi.

Thanks
Brent

You could still use the smaller auger, even though your tractor might have 3000 psi. You simply put a 1500 psi relief valve in the auger circuit.

You could weld a fitting to hold the auger on the backside/bottom of the bucket.

No need to weld anything as long as the 5740 has the CBL. They have a skid steer quick attach, to make these things easy for you!

You will find that with the added down pressure from the loader it is 1000 times easier to dig holes.

We do have the quick attach, that is why I was looking at this setup. :D I am guessing with my limited knowledge that it would possibly not turn quite as fast with the gpm near the bottom of the range, but with higher psi would have more torque? Also am I wrong to think that if she starts to get stuck I just reverse the hydraulics and it will back out?

Thanks

That is correct. It is best to have a motor spool valve.

You should have a relief valve set at 1500 psi, or if you get stuck or hung up on something, the pressure will build up to the limits of the tractor pump. and could cause some damage
