Amazon.com has the Skil 9250-01 8 Amp Variable Speed Reciprocating Saw for $70.90. It has the quick blade change feature. I need a reciprocating saw for occasional use on my farm, and I don't feel like spending $300 for the Milwaukee. I had a Harbor Frieght "heavy duty" reciprocating saw, and it worked as well as any, but after using it to cut up metal roofing for a project for several hours, the head of the saw finally gave out.

Does anyone have this Skil saw, or know anything about it?

Thanks!!!

Mornin Rich,
I have a Bosch. IMO its a much better unit than the Skil and also has the quick change blade feature. Its kind of, you get what you pay for !;)

I've got one (Skil) from years ago. It's okay but not great. I do not have heavy duty needs so it does just fine. I also had a Skil circular saw when I was building my log cabin (major heavy duty needs). It was a nightmare. It took me far too long before I finally threw that thing in the trash fire.....I still have the melted blob of aluminum hanging on the wall as a reminder. Bought a Bosch and it was like a whole different tool.

They say it is a poor carpenter that blames his tools, and I _am_ a poor carpenter. But good tools _can_ make a poor carpenter into a better carpenter and bad tools _will_ make a poor carpenter into a worse carpenter. I'm living proof of all three!

I just looked and I have a Skil 9250. I got it about 3-4 years ago. I like it, the quick change blade system is fast and reliable. It would be nice if it had a little more power, but overall I am satisfied with it and would buy another just like it if this one was lost or stolen. The variable speed adjustment is very helpful when switching from wood to metal cutting. I also like the adjustable base that helps you wear out more of the cutting edge before you have to throw the blade away.

I bought a Skil last year at Wal-Mart. Seemed like a good price at the time and the saw has worked well for the few times that I have used it.
