I had a little stinker move in under my container which I smelt every time I visited the container, and met when my floodlight caught his little, beaty eyes.

I thought about knocking the little stinker off, but then didn't want a different kind of funk coming from under my container.

My 89-year-old mother suggested that since we use mothballs to stop dogs from digging holes in the yard, that mothballs may cause Pepe Le Pew to move on. Six boxes of mothballs later, and it worked! Mr skunk has moved out and onto greener pastures.

And now you just have to smell mothballs! I guess that is better than skunk.

Since we moved to the country our Lab has had 2 encounters with skunks. Both bad experiences. That smell is horrific and lasts for weeks. I cant think of a smell any worse than that. That smell gets in your nose and that's all you smell all day long. Give me moth balls any day.

I've used moth balls in the carport to discourage mice. Lay down a thick row of them directly on the ground right down the carport stall. Put the row right down the center where you will park the vehicle.

I had a family of skunks set up living quarters under my shop building - its a log cabin about a foot up off the ground. My 'ol dog would not quit running round & round the cabin harassing them. One evening he was out there & almost horse from barking - the entire family exited from one side and were greeted by me with my 12 gauge. I got all five of them and the stench lasted about a week.

I take all dead animals to a certain spot on the property where the coyotes clean it all up.

We always use a gasoline soaked rag. Throw it under the container. Will sink of fumes for a few days but long enough for the critters to move on.

Iv'e used a bright light shinning under the house to get them to move own!

I have a friend whose light is just a little less than dim. He tried getting a family of badgers out from under one of his sheds with his big 'ol propane fired weed burner.

He said he had to explain the circumstance to the captain of the fire department three times before they would believe him.

But - you know what - the shed burned flat down to the ground - and the badgers DID move out.

Truly a "pyric" victory!
