Slime for RTV Tires

I've searched the different threads regarding the use of Slime in RTV tires. My RTV has the off road tires from the manufacturer. We do drive in areas where there are not trails, just fields and wooded areas. Have any of you guys used Slime in your RTV tires? Your recommendations...

RTVLady, I don't have an RTV but I do use SLIME.

I've got a couple hundred native Hawthorn trees on my land and they have thorns that average about 1.5" long and can easy poke through a tennis shoe or a tire. I lived with constant flats for years and then I learned about SLIME. I SLIME my garden tractors, wheel barrows, trailers, etc and have never had a flat in any tire after the application of SLIME. It just plain old works. There are other brands on the market, Gemplers sells a brand (or they did, I have not checked lately) that is rated for high speed road use in addition to a version that is similar to SLIME. You should not confuse these products with items like Fix A Flat or Air & Repair, those are different types of items and would not be used in the same way that SLIME and similar products are used.

I have Slime in two sets of atv tires. They should be no different than an RTV tire. As Bob said, Slime does a great job of taking care of punctures. In addition, I had one tire that would leak around the rim no matter which set of rims I had it on. The Slime stopped that leak.

Hi RTVLady,

No RTV, but lots of other stuff that I hate to get flats with. I have used Slime, and it's pretty good. However, for superior protection, I prefer Ultraseal {HERE}

It comes in two different formulations, one for hiway speeds and the other for low speeds. The low speed stuff has a higher fiber content, so it works better at plugging leaks as punctures occur. That is what I use for tractor, wagon, wheelbarrow, ATV, etc. It is somewhat more expensive than the hiway speed grade, but well worth it imho, and certainly better than Slime. You can buy direct or get it from Gemplers {HERE} For me, shipping was a lot less with Gemplers.

No RTV, but two ATV's, one CUT and a LBH, all with slime. Before I slimed them, I was haveing at least a flat a week. Since I put the slime in, I haven't had a flat in over a year!!!

My Black Locust trees have thorns several inches long, very sharp and extremely hard. They are painful just to look at.

The better stuff might be worth it depending on your needs, but I can get slime just about anyplace and have it done that day.

I have the Essex 589 tread 27" with Kevalar belts and they hold arir perfect. So far no flats.... But slime is good and will help if you need it....

I have it in everything that goes off road. You could not go 1 mile around here with out it. It easy to use and I have no proplem it gumming up tires. It will wash off the insides of the tires with water if you need to remount them. There may be better stuff but it easy to find.
