slip clutch brand

Hello All,

I am trying to identify what brand/make of slip clutch the Woods T50 tiller I bought utilizes. I am able to find exploded views of the components of this tiller,but seeing that this tiller is probably 20 + years old I can not find any user manuals for this tiller to explain the slip clutch adjustment.

I know, the slip clutch adjustment topic has been hashed who knows how many times,,,

I can not see any brand name on the clutch ? I think it would take me two weeks to get the layers of paint off the thing. The clutch is very similar to the eg-comer style slip clutch as used on several rotary implements these days,only this clutch has only 6 bolts were the newer clutches have 8 bolts. Also the spring compressed specs for the eg-comer is way off compared to what the spring lengths are on this clutch.

The current spring length as it is adjutsed right now is 1.950". I would simply like to find out what this length should be before I fire this bad boy up after doing a gearbox rebuild of it so I can know it is at least starting close to what the spring length should be.. I dont really want to go through the ' go a ways , feel the clutch for hotness,,and readjust' routine as many threads suggest.
I have Googled high and low and simply can not find anyone who gives any info on adjusting this tillers slip clutch.

The practical advise of adjusting incrementally to meet your HP supply and power demands of the job is better methodology than you will get from a publication that needs to fit all circumstances, more or less. A spring length spec is a start, but many factors affect that optimum dimension, not the least of which is the condition of the steel surfaces on the pressure plates which can vary greatly over time.

I agree with RickB.............Ya gotta set it up with your tractor...........not Joe Shmoes unkown brand, hp, ground, ETC.
