On my R4's /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif - I mowed the front lawn for the first time with the 72" bush hog finish mower (behind the JD 4120). I've got the R4 tires. Lesson learned is, don't try it when it's wet out (it wasn't wet, but the ground was soft from rain). Going sideways on parts of my lawn gave me a little more excitement than I planned for. It seems the R4's will not hold unless you're going straight up or down. Fortunately there's only a few areas in my lawn that this is a problem. I had the tractor slide sideways a little before I got it straightened out. It would probably be ok if it was really dry and the ground hard...but I'll just avoid those areas or only go up/down on that part. Yes, I know the proper way is always up/down on hills, but sometimes it's not practical. I'll use some sense though and be safe. I really just wanted to see how it would do in my yard and now I know. It's main purpose is out in the field anyway.

As far as the quality of the cut though, I'm very happy with the results (Bush Hog RDTH72 finish mower).

operating these cuts on slopes sideways is looking for trouble. I have been looking around for a small tractor to compliment my larger one for the smaller jobs. The one thing that I have noticed is that most of them can't be changed for width. I can see why some of the posts in here mention getting a bit tippy on sidehills.

That is why I had to buy a Lawn Tractor for my yard. Too many times I left ruts in the yard when the ground was wet or even damp.
