I just had a full service done on my 4020 at 175 hrs. becuuse of extremely dusty conditions. I now have about 220 hrs. on it and have noticed the backhoe has slowed down again. the backhoe slowing down was why i had the previous service done at the dealer. my question is should i change the hydr.fld, filter, and clean the screen again? Has anyone ran into this problem. is there a better preventive method to go longer between hydro changes especially since it takes almost 10 gallons to refill $$$$$. Any ideas would be appreciated. One other question does anyone know the size of the o-rings on the loader quick disconnects. MY dealer has discontinued selling Branson in favor of montana with cabs so he has become somewhat diffcult to deal with now/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Just so I'm on your page... You have logged 45 hrs. on the new hyd. fluid? Changing the filter at this point would be a bandaid fix, meaning if your filter is clogged already then you have some other issue occuring.
What brand, type of fluid was put in your tractor. Are you disconnecting the hyd lines frequently or have they been hooked up the entire time since it was serviced? Why did you ask about O rings that begs the question, do you have a leaking fitting? How slow is the backhoe? Does it still have full digging power?

Yes I have about 45 hrs on a full service from my dealer.hyd filter clean hyd screen, power steering plus clean screen, front axle serviced, engine oil filter, fuel filter. he used branson filters and if i am not mistaken traveller universal hyd fluid( thats what i see he sells in his store) i have taken the backhoe off 1 time since the service. I have my hyd lines color coded so there is no way i could have the lines hooked up wrong.the speed of the hoe has slowed by about half with the digging power down by approximately 30 to 40 percent. by the way this is why i took it to the dealer he did the service and said it was because of the dusty conditions i was working in. O-rings on the loader quick disconnects i have one leaking /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif almost every time i use it. The fittings seem to have too much play in them but the dealer said they were ok and just replace the o-rings when they start leaking. my floor mat is destroyed because of this. now that the dealer has stopped selling branson he is unwilling to help, if i cant get this problem fixed i will seriously consider selling it and go with a different tractor.

OK gboyd I think your on to something. gboyd I hope you didn't think I was implying you crossed the hyd lines I just wanted to know how much dirt ingression potential you might have. I apologize if I offended you.
One more question. Is this a Branson/aeroquip backhoe or another brand? I'm almost convinced your problem is the fittings are incorrect or damaged or something is wrong in that scenario. The quick couple fittings should NOT leak. Fluid out means dirt in period! no matter what the dealer is telling you. That has to get examined closer and fixed. If you correct the problem you'll have years of trouble free service. The down side is... theres no telling if/how much you have damaged your hydraulic pump. The rest of the system can be flushed. Question... can you disconnect the hoe and put the TRACTOR hoses together and get a good solid fit? Does your FEL operate fine? If so then your pump is probably OK and all you need is to correct the hoe connections. Call a another dealer heck call MY dealer he WILL talk to you (check your PM)You fix the hoe connection and you'll fix your backhoe. Hope this was a little help.

no offence taken. the quick disconnects for the branson 7620 backhoe fit together very tightly. but the ones for the frt loader fit very loose the o-rings that keep leaking are for the front loader (branson bl-20). i was thinking one or more of the following could be my problem, sucking air and dust thru the frt loader fittings near the joystick, possibly causing the hyd filter and screen to clog up again, or the type of hyd fluid he put in it. my dealer really sucks when i took it in for the last service he did not fix half of the stuff that was wrong with it. he let it sit for 8 weeks and run out of warrenty on some of the stuff ie; drivers right front tie rod end worn, rear taillights still not working, the hyd problems, unhooked my extra lights i put on it,horn not working when i got it back, failed to replace the floor mat because of the leaks. i had to call branson headquaters to file a complaint about this dealer just to get my tractor back. if i can fix what he did not fix then i my feel a lot happier with my tractor. by the way it only has about 220 original hrs on it, forgot to mention the hydraulic fluid bath i got 2 days after getting it be because one of the hyd hoses broke near the frt loader joystick control. any help from this board will be a thousand times better than my so called dealer. sorry but i had to vent some frustration been a long week.
