I recently popped the bead on my front tractor tire. I was able to get it reinflated, but now it has a slow leak which I think is coming from the bead at the sidewall. Suggestions? I was thinking of deinflating, cleaning sidewall good and then reinflating but would like to avoid the hassle if possible. Would something like the slime flat rire repair work on this type of leak. Will using it screw up the wheel for future reuse?

yes.. in a pinch, the slime will likely seal the bead leak. on the other hand.. if it is a tubless tire..which i believe it is, I'd likely deflate the tire.. pop the bead loose and clean up.. might have debri in there. if no debri.. get a can of balkamp bead sealer.. it's a black liquid rubber essentialy.. comes in a can with a brush in the lid...slather it along the bead and air up and reseat.. wipe off excess from rim with a rag with mineral spirits. it sets to a rubber compound conforming to the tire and rim bead. excelent stuff.

and nothing to clean out of the tire in case you ever want to PATCH it from the inside.. as most of those tire sealers need to be cleaned out real good and then the rubber cleaned with a solvent before a tire patch will reliably stick.

Soundguy, I was obviously being lazy and trying to find easy out but I think the smart route is to deflate, clean and apply that rubber compound. It may be some extra work but I'd rather deal w/ it now and be done with the issue. I sure don't want to have to keep an eye on a slow leak and end up w/ a flat out in the woods. Thanks for the advice, I'd never heard of the stuff you mentioned, I'll locate some and give it a try.

I had a front tire that was going soft... could not find the a problem so I used a bottle of slime and that was 5 years ago... low tire pressure is no longer a problem.

Other solutions I have used before are putting in a tube and foaming for weight and flat-proofing.

before I would slime a tubeless tractor tire I'd opt to use one of those inflator / sealer cans.. load it.. drive it around the correct amount of time.. then later on release the gas mixture in it then reinflate with air to get rid of the possibly explosive gas.

I sealed a set of chinese wheelbarrow tires like that. they were porous rubber and held under water you could see millions of lil bubbles from all over them. 1 can of the inflator / sealer did both front tires ont he wheel barrow. never went down again.. as a benefit if I ever need to patch the tires no slime to dig out, and the rubberized cement mixture on t he inside is already cured / vulcanized..( whatever it does.. probably curing.. )

For tubeless wheelbarrow and mower tires....I've had real good luck by deflating the tire and removing the valve core. Then get a can of old fashioned linseed oil. Pour the oil into where the valve core was. Maybe 8 oz per tire. Slosh the tire around, put back the core, and reinflate. A ratchet strap works good if the beed got broken. I used this treatment on 2 different tires, have not added air since. I don't know if it would work on a larger tire.
