Hey Guys -

Getting an odd intermittent problem on my 2014 G series. My arm lift and tilt up are become very slow - no power to lift at times - but the problem has come and gone intermittently.

Everything tilts down / lowers just fine. I also have no problem with drive. Is there something separate from the main drive belt running hydraulics that could be slipping?

I have no codes / no tilt lock indicator light and the arm rest is down! 😂 I also check my hydraulic fluid level and no problem there.

Any ideas in the right direction would be appreciated!

If your drive is ok, then you know the belt is running the pumps. There is a relief valve for the ports on the lift arm and a testing procedure for that system. I assume that is working on your Toolcat.

There is also a relief valve for the lift, tilt, and cargo box system. Does the cargo box seem slow and weak? For the Lift, Tilt, Cargo Box testing, you must remove the pass seat and find the diagnostic port at the gear pump outlet fitting. If the correct pressure can't be reached, replace the relief valve and recheck/adjust the pressure.

There are also port relief valves for every single function. Yours seems to be a multi function problem though.

Also, if you have not checked the belt tensioner adjustment, you may want to do that. I think it is recommended every 250 hrs. (?)

Oh, BTW, to replace the L,T, CB relief valve, you must remove the large access panel (8 screws) that is by the passenger's left leg. The relief valve is at the left bottom as you are looking at the valve assy.

Here is a video of diagnosing a similar issue but it was a bad pump.

If it's affecting both lift and tilt it would almost have to be a bad pump or the main relief valve. I don't think a bad pump would be intermittent. Do you hear any cavitation noise when it malfunctions?

No noises, just very slow to lift or tilt up. Like there kids no power, but drive is still fine.

I actually haven’t checked the tensioner since replacing it. I did the belt and pulley just out of precaution after buying it, because I had no idea when they were last done.

I cracked into there today and got it all snugged up. Figured that was my easiest first step anyway! I gave it a little run this afternoon and so far it didn’t return - but in didn’t really run it long enough to say for sure.

Thanks as always ruffdog for your suggestions. I’ll keep you posted if that solves it or if I end up needing to did a little deeper.
