Spreader SMALL 3PH spreader PTO or electric

I'm too lazy to push a spreader for an acre and a half, but I dont want a big spreader that throws 30 feet either. Anyone know of a small spreader electric or PTO that I can mount on the PTO and not have a huge spread out of it.

Mostly for the four to five fertilizers/weed spreads a year and lime once a year.

As soon as the trailer comes in. Road trip up to Easton for some beers after dinner and I'll fire up the fire pit. Your spreader looks huge. How much of a thro does it have.

i think you have alot more land than I have to worry about.

Spyker has a good 3pt electric. I have seen them mounted on a front loader and the back on 3pt. Great spreaders, the herd are very good too.

I love big powerful implements, BUT this is one case where the most practical solution and most cost effective one, was to go with the small tow behind Agri-Fab . The wheels turn because the tractor's pulling it and the wheel turns a gear which turns the spreader. You can do an acre & a half in 20 min., maybe less. The lightweight implement can hang from a high rafter or truss in the garage, out of the way, and the price is economical. Having the small one is actually best, as you will only have to fill up once or twice (it holds 85 lb). I know it's just not the Tim the Tool-Man Taylor type solution, but for this application, for me anyways, it really was the RIGHT solution. Besides, if you spend only $55, that's all that much more you can apply towards the NEXT implement! Hey Scounger,

I have an electric spreader. It's one of these. I have not yet had a chance to use it but I am a little concerned about how even the fertilizer flow would be. For winter salt or lime (stuff where exact flow rate doesn't matter as much), it'll be fine.

For the Urea (46-0-0) or other fertilizers I appy to the lawn, an even flow is required so #1, you don't over-apply in areas causing burning or #2, you don't get enough in an area and it then looks a lot different then where the fertilizer was applied.

I would think something like the Agri-Fab Tom mentioned would produce a more even flow.

Can someone comment on how even an electric spreader can apply fertilizers?

What I do is cut the application rate for fertilizer by 50% and then go over the area 2 times. One time East to West and another time North to South. Has worked real well for me. No missed spots, no burning, and more seat time, a real win win I think. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes.. they make small spreaders.. however event he small pto spreaders ar int he 350$ range. Electric sreaders seem to be in the 250+$ range. The have drop spreaders for behind your lawn tractor.. usually about 99 bucks or so last time I looked.

An acer and a half isn't too bad for a 15$ lowes walk behind spreader.. unless ya got a bad hip.. or other complications.

The electric spreaders are great. I have used them on golf courses, the electric just spins the blades to spread the fertilizer. You still have to set the flow rate and drive the correct distance. The problem I have seen is not keeping them clean. The electric motors CAN cause headaches if not kept clean, but that is just good maintenance. Soundguy hit the nail on the head though. The electric spreaders are pricey. I like them and it just shows I have expensive taste in toys! or attachments I should say.
