I'm looking to get a small dump trailer to haul...probably 6' x 10', but don't have a clue about how to assess the relative merits of the many(!) choices. What should I be looking for to differentiate a higher-quality trailer from others?
This will be mostly for handling materials like manure, wood chips, firewood, maybe gravel, so I was surprised that one manufacturer I looked at had a PT wood floor in the dumper; is that common? Is it a good or bad thing?

Any advice will be welcomed with open mind.

Thanks,
Bob

I went through similar process and wound up with a 6x10 10k deck over that has been very useful. I would definitely suggest metal floor with a heavier gauge floor (10 or 11 gauge over 12). Power up and gravity down is what I have...power down feature I have read pros and cons. Mine has a battery maintainer/charger built in which is very nice along with a wireless remote.

I really like the deck over as it keeps a narrow track and a little additional height for dumps. Definitely 10k axles over the 7k you may see in 6x10 size.

A couple things I would like are a tapered tongue box, a little lower side wall than the 24" sides I have, mostly for a shorter tailgate and possibly a better wiring harness. I happened to get a really good deal on mine so I lived with a few shortcomings which has been fine for my use.

A quality primer and paint job would be my preference over powder coat.
