Check out the Dexter breed. Look like Angus pets. I think they finish out around 500 to 800 lb. but could be wrong on these weights.

Not being a wiseguy or smart aleck, but why do folks raise miniature cattle? I am seriously looking for an answer. Is there a market?

#1- more animals per acre
#2- easy to finish on grass
#3- less carcass weight lost to bone
#4- great 4-H/FFA projects
#5- easier to work
#6- shorter muscle length ='s more tender beef and the muscle doesn't need to be as toned as a full framed animal
*this is scientifically proven, but it is sound theory*
#7- very easy calving
#8- much cheaper to feed
#9- they are the right size for an averaged size family(3-4 people) to eat off of during the suggested freezer life

While you are looking, try Scotish Highlander cattle. We have a couple. They are easy care and tame. They will do well on scrub areas too.

I've been interested in them for years, but my situation is not yet right to get into them.
