Small horse farm - one or more tractors?

I agree with Rich. When I first started out we bought 25 acres and a run down house. I had just got out of school and had $150,000 in student loans. To say the least I didn't even have $10k to spend! My budget was more like $3k. I started with a Massey Ferg. diesel and a 6' mower, blade, manure spreader and no front end loader that I paid $3k for. The guy was asking $4500 for it but when I went to look at it I told him I had $3k cash and that was it. He took it. I kept up with that equipment for a number of years.
