I remember seeing a portable water pump advertised that was easy to carry not much bigger than a small generator that was great for people needing to use a garden hose where regular tap water was not availble. IE on a boat dock the suction hose could be dropped in the water and have your garden hose and spray or wash the boat down etc...Or someone needing to use a garden hose in a remote area and could pump water out of a pond ...etc....
Anyone know what I am referring too ???

Thank you

It's in the rural living link. Posted by Alan L as the TSC 1 cycle portable gas pump. About 3 pages deep

Something like this little baby pump I have? Last year it was about $149 (I think) from Northern Tool.

When it runs you'd swear it was a weed wacker! The engine is a Kawasaki, I ran this little thing for almost 2 straight days (but not over night, the gas tank is only good for about an hour of run time) without any problems.

Honda has a wide selection, may want to chk their web site - I've been researching for one for my camp - use it for pumping from the creek when washing the tractors and irrigating small fruit trees. Handiest outfit for cleaning the equipment when there's no electric power supply. Attaching a pic of a Mac that I sold a few months back - too much pump for my current needs. Tuning it up prior to sale.

That was a thread I started. I got the Mustang pump from Tractor Supply for $202.98. It has a 2-cycle Mitsubishi engine and pumps about 1750 gpm max.

I am happy with it. It got the job done, moving more water faster than I expected. Only downside is the noise. VERY loud when you want to pump water faster.

For $349 Northern Tool has a little pump with a 1.5 HP 4-stroke Honda engine. It rates 2400 gpm I think and I would have gotten that one if TSC had not sold their last one (they had it for $290 at one time). The biggest advantage is the engine is MUCH quieter and is 4-stroke. My wife's little tiller has the same little engine and it is a great running engine.

But, like I say, I'm happy with the one I got, it looks fairly similar to the picture someone else posted on this thread. And, I don't have to change oil in it. Since I already have 2-stroke chainsaw and brush cutters, I always have gas mixed for it.

1750 gpm Ummmm.... not to be too picky, but I think you're off by a factor of 60. I would bet that delivery rate is gallons per hour . /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Do you (or anyone) know if these have a disclaimer on them about "clear water only"? Would like to get one and the one I saw at Harbor Freight had it hand written on the tag. Of course, I can't find anything else about it.

or maybe he meant gpm (gallons per month!) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Good info Alan. I could sure use one of those puppies. I'll have to ck our TSC.

But ...1752 gallons per hour = 29.2 gallons a minute. or about a gallon every 2 seconds! Now thats alot of water!

In industrial / commercial pump applications, the pumps are rated at 'clear water at 60 F'. This is a standard rating point that allows for direct comparison of performance from pump to pump. As the water temp and or clarity changes ( by means of chemicals - glycol or crud ) its density changes and so does a pumps performance curve. In most cases, the homeowner user will never need to be concerned about 'clear' water vs. 'un-clear'.

The biggie is a pump's ability to pass solids. Some pumps can pass 2" spheres, without tearing up. My Honda can pass 1/2" solids which is helpful when the suction end gets into the silt at the bottom of the pond !! It'll flow what appears to be chocolate milk, but not very effectively, but doesn't really tear up the impellar.

Gear pumps like on a sprayer, which are positive displacement, can't handle any solids.
