I had a friend (neighbor) mention to me that I should really get my dairy goats (when I get them) insured. Since I live on a small 1 acre, but mainly because we live right on a state route. And (he said) " if they got out, and maybe caused an accident on the road, you would be liable."
Makes sense, but I wanted to get y'all's thoughts on it as well!
Thanks for your time!

Just wondering if anybody else buys insurance (liability?) for their goats on a small homestead . Thanks!

Have you checked with your insurance agent? Any local farmers you can ask? Extension office? Just be careful, for example I have Farm Bureau insurance, my previous agent was not really up to speed on farm issues, my new agent is very good.

Update: spoke with my insurance agent. Good news Under my already existing home owners policy, I'm covered. If they (the goats) get loose and maybe cause an accident on the road. The insurance would cover any liability. I still have a few more questions for my agent, and I'll update when I hear back.
