Small Tillers 48\" or less

Small PTO 3pt cat 1 tillers for Kubota B5100D 4WD:
Thanks for all the info on tilling - I'd like to buy a small tiller- 48" or less for my tractor (12HP Diesel). The B5100 is geared, hi/lo 3 speed and 4wd. The ground has not been broken - but I'm not in a hurry... Will it work? And does anyone know where I can find such a tiller for less than $1000?

Bruce,
You could, for now, look up your local grey market Yanmar dealer. They always have tillers in the $4-600 range. Even paint it orange to match

Re: Small Tillers 48

I just bought a 48" Caroni from Direct Distributors in NC (I think they are in fact Agri-Supply). Tiller price was $840, tax about $55 (I live in NC), and shipping about $70, total just under $970. Go to www.agri-supply.com and look under "farm machinery/implements->tillovators". I just ordered it, so I still haven't actually seen it. I bought it based on specs alone, trying to match to a BX2200. It's a little bigger than the book recommends (42", 375lbs from BX owner's manual, tiller is 48" and 400lbs), but I'm hoping it won't be too much.

I looked around for others, but couldn't find any in the size I needed for under $1000. Most were $1500 and up. The others I found at or under $1000 were significantly too large.

Yes, it will work. I have a Kubota B6100DT - only a couple of hp more than yours. I've got a 42" Kubota tiller on it and have tilled quite a bit of unbroken ground with it as did my father-in-law who bought the tractor & tiller new in '78.

Great idea on the Yanmar. Where do I find such a dealer?

Re: Small Tillers 48\" or less

Bruce,
What area of Indiana are you in? I think there are a couple in Indiana. One very good dealer is Dixon Ill. if thats close. You might want to post over on the Yanmar Forum that you might be looking for one. Mine is a 48" and it is designed to run up to about 1000RPM. Really grinds the dirt up into powder

Hi Fellow TBN Tiller Quest

Try this site for the dealershttp://www.yanmar.com/dealers/tractor/index.html

I am also looking for a tiller for my BX 2200, going to make some calls. Boy a tiller for under $800 would be great. Have to live with a max of 42" and 375 pounds, we will see.

Re: Small Tillers 48\" or less

The search continues…..

Well the $400 tiller can not be found, well at least I did not have any luck. The best deal I have found is from www.sweettractors.com in KY, check out the web site. They have a Sicma 34" with a slip clutch for $899 plus $72 for shipping to NJ , or a 47 inch Simca for $850 with the same shipping charge. I am leaning towards the 47" model since the weight is only 375 pounds. Only problem, I have not found any info about this type of tiller. Does anyone have one or know anything about it? Thanks for your help

Tom
