Awesome idea - I don't know what to say about a mower as a gift, but I posted several months ago about having my FIL's tractor gone through by the dealer as a Father's Day/ big thank you gift. Well he got that thing back and was smiles from ear to ear for a long time. Someone else suggested a renovation on their existing Deere... that may make them very happy.

I got an X595, it is all that I need and more /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif (don't need a front end loader, I need a leaf bagger more). I am very happy and would highly recommend the X series. If your needs are different, consider the 2210.

The one thing I haven't seen addressed in this thread is the cost factor X vs. 2210.
I looked at both and when I compared the machines by the time I added rear pto and 3PH to the X series it was actually more money than the 2210. I went with the 2210, and am glad I did. The ride is great. I have a 54" MMM which does a nice job and the hydro makes mowing fast and easy.
I am also in complete agreement that the in-laws should make the decision, I would never want to disrupt the harmonious relationship I have with my MIL. (cough cough)
