I 'need' a tractor with large enough tires not to throw me around while mowing a really rough 'yard' and orchard, corrals, farm building, etc. Due to excessive wetness, sand, and inclines/declines, I really need 4WD.
I have a gear drive 2WD L4600 with loader and hard canopy right now and absolutely love that tractor but, with heavy work there is no traction. I much prefer the gear drive to my friend's Hydrostat Kioti FWIW. The canopy is nice in the middle of a hay field but, a real PIA around trees.
I am considering a Kubota L2501DT (gear drive) but, it a bit bigger than ideal though without a loader and no canopy it would be easier to manuever around obstacles, trees, etc.
The Kutoba B series and JD 2000 series seem like the right tractors but, I am unwilling to pay for all the "premium" features and long term maintanence costs. The Mahindra Max series looks like a possible solution.
What are the better options in the ~$12K range? My main requirements are a good dealer network for parts and service, at least 25 PTO HP, and 4WD with Cat 1 three point. I live in East Texas FWIW.
TIA,
Sid
