Small Win & some new Toys

Well here's a real small acomplishment from the weekend.

This is our first year on the Farm and until now a local Farmer has taken the Hay (large Rounds). I have no haying euipment and had no time.

we have about 160 Large Round Bales on the Fields now, and he's in the process of moving them off. Our Horse paddocks are, getting low on grass (end of season, and grass isnt growing like it was before), so I figured Id like a couple of the Round bales to Tide me over till November when i start the Beasts on the Square Bales in the Barn. Farmer wasnt around on the weekend but I know i can help myself.

I took the Montana 5264 out to the field to retrieve a bale or 2...no Bale Spear....so i hooked a chain on the top of the bucket, pulled it behind and underneath, then laid it out in fron tof the bucket.

My Son and I rolled the Bale over the chain and onto the lip of the Bucket.

I pulled the chain over the top of the Bale and hooked it on tothe top of the bucket again, tilted the bucket back, and Voila, were on the move !! .

Some times its the "Firsts" and the Small Wins that make your day.

Yesterday I bought a New Holland Square Baler and a Rake !

My New Box Blade Arrives Next week !

Its like Christmas !

OK...so i didnt realize how "Small" a win this was. 72 reviews and no reply to this one.

Being newbie and having a sheltered existance, means stuffing a hay Bale in a FEL is like moving a mountain.

I know what you mean. I get excited at little things too. I recently was able to buy and install a FEL on my Ford 1210. I had the wife and kids come out and watch me raise, lower and curl it and they just looked at me like I was a moron. "You spent how much time and money on this?"

Sometimes you have to revel in the excitement yourself. It's not so bad... I am getting used to it. LOL

Welcome Dave and good job. And just remember its not so much what others think but the personal sense of satisfaction one gets when a job is accomplished with whats available That being said I do know how rewarding it is when others recognize our successes. Keep up the good work and enjoy your new toys... er, I meant tools!

And that is what really counts. BTW my prior post was 100% genuine! I do believe small wins are the best because they happen most often!

Yea!!! just remember the warning! Objects may fall out and hurt driver if lifted to high!

I did similar with a 52yr old tree stump, that I dug up with my FEL.... Yea BIG hole!!! Chained it up to the FEL.... and stacked on the burn pile.

A little freaked out putting it on the top of the pile! I didn't want it in my lap!

Folks who wait for the ONE BIG win are often disappointed.... I find that a positive attitude is easily generated by acknowledging the "small" wins you gain any day, any time- You're on the right track, IMO! (Working in a middle school helps a lot with that philosophy!)
