John Deere 4520 cab... formerly Yanmar 336D
I keep thinking I read here somewhere earlier this year or late last year about the 1xxx series or perhaps the 2xxx series getting a factory cab this year... but I can't find it in a search. Deere's website of course isn't that useful - sure, it will show you cabs on those models... with the fine print showing you are on the International site. Flip to the US site... no cabs.

So, was this a non-US thing, or are there (factory) cabs for tractors smaller than the 3000 series now?

I'm sticking with my 4520, but a friend of mine with a 2000 series and aftermarket cab would really like a factory cab (with AC:) ).

Sorry to ask a question I know has been beaten to death here....

If you have looked at the cabs available in the UK the cabs on the 2x20 series are not the same as the 3x20 and 4x20 series. Their not the isolated comfort guard cabs but are very much like the add on cabs available here from Jodale Perry and Laurin. The 2x20 cabs are not available with refrigerated air but have heat and ventilation.
In summary if your friend has a 2000 series with a top of the line after market cab already he isn't going gain much. Laurin offers the eclipse cab with the option for hvac starting with the 2320 model of current tractors. I have had my eclipse cab for almost eight years and am satisfied with it but it is more noisy than the factory 4520 cab. If your friend wants the hvac I would consider the few extra hp in the 2720 or inquire about the new models coming out soon.

Here's a link to the 2320 cab page http://laurin-inc.com/c/cabines/john-deere-2320/?detail=7&l=en

Deere has offered cabs (with no A/C) on their Euopean version small tractors for many years. Tractors over there are used differently and come equipped with more road equipment such as cabs, extra lights, turn signals, and trailer wiring connectors. Front three point hitches are also common to carry additional implements from town to the farm. My 755 was available in Europe twenty years ago with a factory cab and the other accessory equipment. Deere may not find sufficient reason to offer any of that here.

Last visit to my JD dealer they had a larger X series with a snow blower and cab. The front curved glass looked real sharp like it was specifically designed for it. I have also seen the front deck mowers with similar cabs as they also have the ability for mounting snow blowers. The cab had to come from JD because this dealer wouldn't purchase an aftermarket to display in his show room. I also saw another in for service ( a municipal owned machine ) with a cab and a broom.

The x series is actually a Curtis cab (ordered through Deere). Not really fair when comparing to the 3x20 and 4x20 cabs since they are not pressurized, a better term for the x700 cabs would be enclosure.

If I ordered an X series tractor with a cab from my dealer regardless of who manufacturers it in my way of thinking it is still a factory cab. JD will still take care of warranty, order needed parts and collect the purchase price . My Yanmar diesel is not John Deere but it is part of the JD order ..... so its not factory ?
The sales sign listed the tractor, ( with CAB ), snow blower, and delivered price minus tax. Close enough to perfect for me.
* In checking they could not order a cab ( enclosure if you will ) for my 4110.

Agent Blue,
I have heard this reference to "factory cab" before myself, I consider a factory cab is one that is made in a factory not a home made or shop built unit. I looked at the Curtis add on cab for the x749 out of curiousity when buying the mower. Didn't feel it was something I would wan't though.

The Laurin I linked to above is an add on for current open station 2x20 series tractors and is available with hvac. I can see where some people in cold northern climates could benefit by having the Curtis cab for winter snow clearing on an x700 machine. Cabs are much more useful if they have a good hvac system so that the windows can be kept clear enough to see through as well as the obvious consideration being comfort. An isolated cab such as on my 4520 is much quieter and tighter than any of the add on cabs including the Laurin on my 110tlb. These islotated cabs with hvac begin with the 3320 tractors whether you are looking at the European or US market.
