Smoked the Ring gear on my 4400

Most automotive ring gears are chamfered on both sides so they can be flipped. But again, tractors could be different.

I wouldn't be concerned about service life, a flipped ring gear would last just as long as a new ring gear would.

Just thought CF might save a few hundred bucks. :)

I should have it torn apart this weekend at the latest. I'm thinking It should go quick. After adding the full hydraulic steering mod, I shouldn't have to remove any sheet metal or tank. If I can flip the ring gear, I will. I'll post pictures of it when I get it off and see what you guys think. I'll also check the clutch components while I'm in there too. Thanks for the help.

Just a quick update. Flipping the ring worked out perfect. I didn't replace any other parts because a complete overhaul is coming. I put an indicator on the rear main and I can move it .010" without much effort. The engine is tired with lots of blow by. On the up side, it still starts easy and runs like a champ so I'm running it until it stops.
