Kioti DK 55-New Holland EC-35
smokin\' dk 55

cannot stand it any more and called my dealer. He said to ground the intake manifold and give it a try. It cleared up the bad smoke at start up instantly. Next morning no good, smokin' as bad as ever. I put a second ground on it fixed it instatnly, this morning back to square one. Any thoughts? Remember this is far beyond normal smoke puffs. This is white smoke that would make the neighbors cry, if I had any close by.Got the letter about warranty on the axle, no problems there, I guess we get letters for things kioti sees as problems.

gmol,

Have your dealer order the following:

part #E6301-11822 inlet manifold gasket
part #E6520-B0010 glow system kit

Depending on the hours of your tractor and past warranty history he might be able to get this done under warranty. If not the kit & gasket will cost you $265.00 plus shipping plus a couple hours of labor to install.

This is a preheater set up.It consists of a new intake manifold that a preheater fits into along with new injector lines and will eliminate the white smoke. You will be trading it for the traditional black smoke at startup that most DK55s develop since the DK55 is turbo charged and normally runs pretty rich. But the black smoke goes away after it warms up and doesn't stick around like the white smoke does.

"DK55 is turbo charged and normally runs pretty rich"

Aren't diesel engines fuel governed? Any extra fuel that you add makes the engine rpms go up. Black exhaust is unburned fuel from incomplete combustion. I don't think a rich/lean description is what is going on so much as low compression and cold engine innards leading to incomplete combustion and unburnt fuel spewing out the exhaust in the from of black smoke.

Re: smokin\' dk 55

Sorry gmol,

The only problem with white smoke here was corrected using the preheater kit. The rest of the DK55 tractors I've seen emit black smoke vs: white smoke at start-up.I just figured since the 55 uses the same engine as the 45s the increased air/fuel mixture with the turbocharger had something to do with the black smoke. On the 45s I don't see the black smoke,on the 55 I do. Good luck finding a solution.

Well all of my equipement is in the shop this week so I decided to pull the injectors out of the DK . Brought them to the shop, all 4 were bad. I will get the new ones in tomorrow and let you know how well it goes.

Installed 4 new injectors. Now I remember why I liked these tractors so much, smooth ans silky. Funny how you get accustomed to things and realize they are bad but not really aware of how bad. All is great again.

Looks like 685 hrs. Now if I could get the fuel gauge to behave we would almost be 100% for today

If it's anything like the CK30, the sending unit float wire needs to be bent to keep it from rubbing the side of the gas tank. Mine is showing full after 5 gals used...just haven't had time to take the thing apart.
