smoking 3TN V82A Yanmar ?

[/FONT] cust. called said , 1 of their employees some how put [gas in the Diesel fuel tank????] now the engine SMOKEs & can't get #2 cyl. to Fire , they did do Compression Test & they don't understand , How ALL cyl.s have [aprox.] Same Compression Reading ????
this engine 3TNV82A 3cyl. Diesel is in a "997 John Deere Lawn mower"

Any HELP finding out what is causing this engine to Smoke & not fire #2 cyl. Would HELP us to look Better[than we are] & mainly HELP us HELP our customer????

I am no diesel tech but on a misfire on my engine I would pop test the injector(s) first and go from there #2 may very well be stuck open, it has to have correct amount of fuel as well as compression yes? hth

Not much info there. Did they try to run on gas? What was done to remedy situation? Were fuel lines bled correctly? How do they know #2 is not firing?

Compression good on all cylinders but #2 won't fire?

Maybe swap the injectors around and see if the misfire follows the #2 injector.

I'd have the injectors pop tested. I doubt that is the problem. How long was it run? Diesel fuel lubricates the injector pump. Gas will not lubricate it.

Neighbor borrowed my brothers Massey 35 with a 3 cylinder Perkins and filled the diesel tank up with gasoline and they ran it till it quit.The injector pump had to be rebuilt. Other than that it was OK.
