Smoothing out land

Cutting several acres with a F3990 and many places it just way to bumpy. Think I should bring my track loader over and rip the ground up, then smooth and reseed. I need to bring the track loader over anyway because of some real bad areas.

Have also been thinking about using a disc harrow to smooth the places out, and if it can be done smooth enough reseed. I don't owned a disc, so that would be an expense. After discing, may also need a cultipacker

Wonder what is used on a golf course on the fairways?

BTW there is flat areas, and some real hilly areas with rocks in the hills

A big, heavy cutting disc is what you need. And, you need to cut it from different directions. Say, do an X pattern, and then square, etc. Keep cutting it until flat. Then use a chain-link harrow to drag it smooth.
You might check around and find one that you can rent, instead of buying.

I have been using a disc harrow followed by a landscape rake on my land. When it's grown up in grass it tends to clog up the harrow so mow it as close as you can before you start.

My land is decent in one direction but going against the last direction I pulled the rake is still washboard. I foresee having to cut it up and rake it again and I have done both at least 3 times in different directions.

I've always wanted to try a flail mower with combo dethatching blades. High spots would get dirt removed and redistributed while low spots would be filled in. It would take a couple mowings to get the desired effect. This way you're keeping the ground cover intact.

Thanks, good ideas. The roughest spots are where an old chick house was and have 2 long ruts where a hoop house use to be. There are several other places. Well see if I can rent/borrow
