Well, with the cooler weather predicted, my wife had me bring in the sword looking plants (they are in large pots) that have been out on the porch for the summer. We moved them into the dining room near a window (as we do each year) and that's where they stay until spring.

So I hear this scream, then "there's a snake in the birdcage, he ate our bird!!" It was a parakeet. Seems this snake about 18" long came out of the plants we had brought in, heard this bird squawking, climbed into the cage, swallows bird and can't get back out (due to lump in stomach). My son and I take snake outside and dispose of. In the words of Larry the cable guy, "now thats funny"

Wow, I have 2 conures and if any snake ate them, I'd be slicing it open! Those birds are my constant companions. We eat dinner together, watch TV (their favorite show is Judge Judy) and everything. Having animals that speak English just adds a really unique dimension to pet ownership. When I pull into the driveway they start yelling my name, when I go upstairs to bed they say "goodnight!" and all kinds of things in between. I can't really imagine not having my birds.

BTDT, that is awful. Were you able to identify the snake?

I'm thinking it was a small chicken snake. I know it wasn't poisonous. I thought about trying to get bird back out, but I'm thinking he had already been eaten for a while before we found problem. We had both been at work all day, and when wife went to check feed and water is when she found him.
