So I've been loving my 64" rear-mount snowblower, which I'm using now after several years of back-blading and the associated "push-back" procedure required after blading.
The snow is now sent far from the road. Nice change. However, the backblade would scrape right down to my frozen gravel surface. It was always easing driving out (uphill) after blading a big snowfall. The snowblower is a different story. Yes, it puts the snow away. But it leaves (especially when throwing slush) a thin layer of frozen snow/ice.
Last night I blew the slush off. Left that thin layer. This morning it was a 300-yard long skating rink, with a 6-percent kicker at the top entering the road. My wife made it out with studs on her SUV. My 4x4 pickup was a different story. Had to chain up all around to get it out.
So I'm left thinking that the blower is not quite the perfect solution I thought I had. Gonna have to get some sand and leave at the top, I guess, unless there's something in this operation that I'm not doing quite right. Do any of you long-time snowblowers have a suggestion/solution for me?
thanks in advance.
