Yes, I find getting covered in snow from a walk behind, just as annoying.
A lot depends on terrain, and winds in your area.
It's windy here. Swirling winds, are not rare.
It's a gravel drive anyway. I've also had enough of rocks being hurled at high velocity, and chunks of the street that the county plowed into my driveway, damaging the auger, or sheering pins.
I can plow my snow easily, and efficiently, with my rig.
