Snow Attachments Snow blowers and TPH lift arms

How much play should be in the TPH sway turnbuckles? Currently I have left them just loose enough so I can wrestle an implement on. As I was blowing snow for the first time this week I found that the blower would swing left or right with the tilt of the tractor. Our lane is very narrow at some points, so I would like to cut it close to edge. At the same time I don't want to be bouncing off rocks or knocking then loose.
Is there any harm in tightening up the buckles to remove most of the play?

I always ran my links/chains snug on my blower (and most other impliments). Always meant i needed to loosen them to change impliments though. As long as they rotate on the same axis (pin/shaft) as the lower arms, i don't see where you'll have any problem.

I set mine so there is about an inch of play back and forth. I don't know if yours is the same but my freeplay changes between full up and down position. You have to check the play in both full up and down position so its not too tight.

I second that. One of my tractors tightens up quite a bit as I raise it, which is awesome on rough ground or for precision work if you adjust the chains right. You can raise the implement up to the right height and have NO slack in the chains, so no slapping or slamming back and forth. It removes the idiot-proofness out of the tractor though, because you can break your 3pt lift arms if you raise them all the way if you're got them set up like this.
