I bought a used Meteor 60" snowblower last summer to use with my LK3054. I had the opportunity to try it out yesterday for the first time but unfortunately, the results were less than optimal with snow continually clogging up the chute, even though the snow was rather light and powdery. The snowblower appears to be in A1 condition, well lubed, shear pins in place and all parts turning freely.

I don't have any instructions for the Meteor and am wondering if I should be running the 3054 at specific RPM. This blower should be throwing the snow 20" but it barely makes it out of the chute and then clogs it up.

Any info or suggestions would be helpful. John

I'm not sure as I wasn't paying any attention to the RPM's. Is there a specific RPM you should be at when operating a snowblower off a PTO?

Yes, you are suposed to run all pto driven implements at 540 pto rpm which is about 2500-2600 engine rpm. Mine has a mark on the tack for pto rpm.

If you were running low rpm that could be your problem. It's easy to do because sometimes 2500 rpm seems like way overkill.

JJR I operate my snowblower at 2600 rpm, like Larry mention this could have been your problem...cag

The tach on my CK20 shows the 540 PTO RPM at 2800 Engine RPM's. You could have been running it too slow.
I thought it was a little high and since it was a powdery fluffy snow, I ran it at 2400 RPM's and drove through it at full speed. With a heavy wet snow, I would def. run it high RPM and slowly.

With my snowblower there is a dramatic decrease in performance if I drop below 540 rpm at the PTO, which for me is about 2500 engine rpm.

Below that speed the impeller does not turn fast enough and the chute clogs up solid in no time at all. 540 and it stays clear.
