Snow clearing - Scotland

Thanks - that's helpful. I have a compressor so will fill the tires and keep them well-filled. I wonder if you can use a blade on the front loader arms, as a direct replacement for the bucket. It's just that I've read lots of messages that say that a rear blade is not very effective.
Some folks would say "just try different methods and see what suits you best", but the thought of spending all that cash when you guys are out there to advise me what doesn't work....!!!

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I didn't mean fill the tires with air, I meant fill the tires with fluid to add weight. it makes a huge difference in the snow.
Also, the rear blade will not work on the FEL ( front end loader) You can get a snow plow that would replace the front bucket but, you will need a 3rd function valve on the front to run the power angle for the blade , unless you get the manual angle blade. The manual angle blade is cheaper and works just as well. You would just have to get off the tractor to move the blade.

I get a ton of snow and I use the rear blade quite a bit. It does work well. If you get into snow that is so deep that the rear blade in no longer effective i think it is time for a 3pt. snow blower.

Sorry - I was being a bit dumb - I should've realised that you meant fluid, not air! Having said that, I have no idea how many folk in the Scottish Borders get their tires fluid-filled and the dealer will probably think I'm nuts. I'll give it a try, though.
All your stuff on the FEL/blade/manual angle is incredibly useful. Thanks a lot.

Be sure your dealer loads your tires with a calcium mix or even windshield wiper fluid, not just ordinary water. Obviously, the water will freeze and damage your tires. Most people only load the rears. Loading the rear tires also helps add weight which is super helpful when you are using your FEL . It helps balance the tractor.

I have even heard of loading the tires with beet juice.
You might want to do a search on here about loading tires.
