Hey Harv!
It's snowing in Shingle Springs! We are at 1600'. So far, we have about 1". There are chain controls on H50 in Camino(3000').

I'll bet you are getting some at the property. Maybe you should take tomorrow off!

Maybe "I" can plow tomorrow /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I expect we'll have a couple inches out of this. It's only 6pm now...

Robert -

I got the same report from up at the property. First, we can't hardly get any rain, the next thing you know it's snowing. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

I can already hear some of the mid-west to eastern folks snickering at us. To them, this would be a light frost./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Wish I was up there with my camera to document this. If it snows down here, you can bet I'll take pictures. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I am really glad to help you guys out with making it snow and rain in the foothills... You know why it is raining and snowing today... I just finished grading a access road down to my lower pasture (near Auburn). The mud is flowing very nicely about now. Oh well. More fun moving the dirt back to the top of the hill. Have a great weekend.

OBTW: have you guys checked out the PBS show "California Heartland" this week? They had a video tour of the Deere factory. Very interesting. This is a high quality show and a reasonably good web site. Their web address is:

http://www.californiaheartland.org/

There is also a listing of the upcoming farming/equipment shows. The Tulare equipment show is supposed to be the largest farm equipment show in the world.

Have a great day.

It's kind of funny here in Michigan when it snows early in the year. Everyone is out plowing and pushing and blowing when we get a couple of inches. We have to keep the snow pushed back. As the winter wears on, we have to get 4-6" before you see many folks out moving snow. Hope you get enough that you "HAVE" to go out and plow it.

Dang, you know, it broke from snow to rain late in the evening. When I left for work, we just had a couple 1" deep patches.

I was ready /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Harv, you sell yourself short - I'm not snickering, I'm laughing out loud!! After 100" in December the novelty has worn off!! Luckily January has been about as snow free as Dec was snowy. (I think the cold Dec has cooled down Lake Ontario so not as much moisture is being pulled aloft - Just a laymans meterological opinion) Once we get through Feb the snow will become fun again 'cause I know it won't last much longer!! I haven't had to fire up the tractor all week except for dragging the arena.

100 inches!!??? /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Gerard, we've got ski resorts operating out here with less snow than that!

I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry if we ever got that much snow here, even up at my tractor property. When I bought my tractor, snow removal wasn't even a consideration. If the situation ever comes up, though, I'll be glad to give it a try. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Remember, Harv, there is a big differance between accumulated snowfall, current snowfall, and snowpack. that 100" is the amount recieved since the beginning of the season. Snowpack is the amount currently sitting on the ground. We've received around 50" /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif, but the pack is about 1-2" /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif.
