Snow in MID MAY???

Guys, I took my cats out for their evening stroll and hunt about 45 minutes ago, the temperature was about 36 degrees and there were random and scattered small snowflakes coming down...in my 61 years of living in mid-Michigan I have never seen snow THIS late after the year change back in January...maybe this "global warming" talk is all hype.....????

We got 5 inches of snow up here today. Crazy to think that I planted the corn the other-day. The ground temp is warm enough to plant.

All I can say is that 'weather is weather'. (that "global warming" is, indeed, hype has been my position from the get-go) I'm sure that somewere within the miniscule time that accurate weather records have been kept, snow was recorded in mid May for your area.

My Dad emailed me this morning from Wallaceburg, Ontario reporting the snow. My response is that it is still Spring there, isn't it.

As my seasons are opposite to yours (it's now late Autumn), I can report that I was outside working comfortably in a tee-shirt with the temperature at 21C. Adelaide, SA, just had their warmest weekend in 92 years (31C)... but that's the point, it has happened before.

Right now it's back to Autumn with heaps of rain & the temps to return to morning frosts. :confused3:

Going down to a overnight low 36 later this week in southern PA. I agree, it is pretty unusual...

Years ago I can remember going to the rack track in mid May only to have them cancelled due to snow. Unusual, sure, but not unheard of.

Mid May in central Va. No snow, but I'm still wearing long johns, insulated shirt and heavy coat. Heat is still turned on and running. Hot meals are still in order. Should be wearing shorts, t-shirt and flip-flops and eating cold salads this time of year with no heat/AC requirements.
