I am going to be installing a Curtis FEL mounted snow plow on my Kubota B7500. In the below picture item #18 is called a by-pass releif valve, one of the "T" connectors is damaged. My question, is the releif valve actually needed in my application, and if so what exactly does it do. To control the angle of the plow I installed a Fasse diverter valve, here's a pic of this also. Any help would be appreciated.

I would say it is probably there for some sort of structural protection to vent fluid/allow blade angle change before sideways damage occurs to the loader arms(their weakest axis). It is a little hard from that diagram to determine how exactly you would connect in your hydraulics to control swivel angel. Where do these connectiuons take place?

The hoses go from the cylinders to the "T"s on the releif to the diverter valve, excuse the quality of the paintbrush drawing. One of the "T"s is broken, I guess it would be best to fix it and keep the original configuation

Seeing that diagram, I would agree, keep it in the circuit as I believe it is intended to reduce side load and prevent loader arm damage. Plow blade on the loader arm should be good for pushing snow up and over hard existing banks:)

This is better known as a "cross-over relief valve"
Is the blade is full right, and you hit a solid object, the relief will pop and the blade will angle to the left to relieve the stress on the frame. I'd say it's needed.

I understand the intended purpose of a relief valve but I can't understand how it helps on an angled plow. I'm asking since I am in the process of ordering a Hiniker blade for my FEL too.
If the blade is angled full right, isn't most of the force on the right side (closest to driver) of the blade already? The FEL arms are in constant stress being pushed to the left at this point. It seems like the diverter will only compensate for times when the weak left (forward) side of the blade hits something.
Maybe it doesn't have a benefit when the blade is angled. I can understand how it would help when pushing hard with the blade straight and a corner catches something. Just curious if anyone with experience using a FEL blade can offer some feedback.
Thanks.

Yes, it helps if the forward side of the blade catches something, or, as you said if the blade is straight and a corner cathes something. It will help keep a cylinder rod or the plow frame from bending.

Yes, I agree 100%
