I am attaching a Meyer snow plow to my Ford 545D loader. So far I have a Euro quick attach frame built. The plow pins to that frame. I plan on adding crossover valve for my cylinders.

My FEL does have the float option in the valve but I would rather the plow blade float (the loader arms would be digging in the ground) using the chain pick-up point. What are some ideas for attaching the chain to the quick attach frame? If I take the chain and wrap it around the upper 3" tube on the frame it is very tight.

Don't know about the chain attachment. Looks nice. You might want to box in the bottom of the tabs where you pin on to your quick attach. Might make it easier to line up when attaching.

Useing shoes or skids should help from digging in,than you could adjust your chain lenght...just idea.

I just finished my mod similar to yours. On my FEL adapter I made, I added a multifunction 2" receiver on top of it. I can now put any 2" item (hook, ball, ring). I ended up putting the chain through the receiver with a ring (10,000 # rating) and locked it back to the plow point with a shackle. With mine when I tilt my FEL forward it loosens the chain, When I curl it back, I get full tension and the right height. Its stiffens the entire unit as one. The video shows it clearly as I loosened and then curl it back. On my adapter I have a part that extends out and fits into the 'A' frame of the plow. This takes some of the weight and stress as well as the top chain support.

Looks good so far

That's pretty clever! The receiver will be real handy too.

Thanks Dave

I was just going to put a hook, but realized this made more sense. The original thought was so I could add a light weight boom for lifting beams etc. in place. A piece of 2"x2" 8'-10' thicker wall steel long with another piece of the 2"x2" inside dia. welded overlapping the end of that about 10" long produces an extension with a 2' reciever at that end as well. Realizing of course that if it is something really heavy you need some 3pt counter weight and some added support on the boom itself. Having a hitch on the front makes it easy to make very tight turns when manouvering a trailer in a tight spot.

Mine has a receiver tube and a hook to make it more versatile. Plow shoes go on it before winter hits. Makes plowing a little less nerve racking-I dislike worrying about the plow mount digging in.

Your set up is to far out from the tractor.

You could just wrap the chain around like you said or weld a hook on.

On mine I made it so it would have down pressure by rolling the bucket out a little, kind of handy when you need that extra little bit of scrape.
