Before chains- yes. I had problems with the front sliding fairly often.
Of course with R-4's my tractor struggled to go at all in snow/ice let alone push a 9' plow.
I run chains on all 4, so spinning or sliding from the plow is rarely a problem.

Hey Vince, I'm 6hrs north of you here in Ontario and our snow can be very wet and heavy too. I also have R4's so I guess from the replies, there is a chance I will need to look at chains as well if I do switch to a plow vs the FEL. What I feel I will end up doing is keep my set up for now and just keep at it. This spring work on the lane way and area between the house and building to get it level again. If I still feel by next year that I want to change something then I'll look at some attachment that will act like a cleat on the FEL. I still like having the FEL on to move the snow banks.
By the way, I still see you have the DK35. That is what I started out looking for a few years back. A used, almost new DK35. Rarer then hens teeth to find.

Not real long, 250' plus an area between the house and out building that measures 70'x 90'. I will check out this "edge Tamer" you speak of.

For that short of a lane, on gravel that doesn't want to stay put, I'd just put edge tamers on your bucket and be done. After you see how easy it is, you'll be itching to put a bigger bucket on the front.

As far as snow buckets go, I probably went a little smaller than I could have - but I bought mine for multiple purposes - wood, mulch, loose dirt & stone (factory bucket is so pitifully small)!

To give you an idea of how big a 1 yard bucket is, here's a picture on my 45hp DS4510HS which is one frame size up from your CK for perspective...

I just sent a email off to r2manufacturing. They make the Edge Tamers. I'll need to wait until tomorrow for an answer. They are in the Eastern time zone and closed right now.

I did the FEL-bucket thing for one winter and did not like it...as it took too long to get the job done, what with having to pick-up the snow then go dump it somewhere...especially when the white stuff gets sticky....installed a rear blower with a front manual ssqa plow which is an ideal combination in my view....I try to use the blower when I can....I have no cab on the tractor so when the wind is not conducive to blowing or in certain other circumstances, the plow is utilized. Front chains only.....makes for good traction and little sideways torque. With a plow, the snow is pushed to one location and with one motion, the FEL is raised up as you get to your destination....the snow falls off the plow....no need to for dumping action. If the bank gets too high, it gets pushed over to make room for more. A regular bucket is okay if you have nothing else....of course a snow bucket is likely very good, if you have one. My opinion, based on my own experience.

Get a length (50 " ?) of 2 1/2 inch schedule 80 plastic conduit and cut a 3/8 inch slot along the length of it then start one end on the bucket edge and tap it on with a hammer.
