Clearing a gravel (crushed stone) driveway of snow I often pick up some gravel which scrapes the impeller area clean and dings paint on augers. Is there a recommended paint or treatment to prevent rusting and perhaps help keep snow from sticking?

Thanks,

I also blow snow on a gravel drive.

For sure snow will stick to rust much better than a painted surface.
No paint will resist the blasting effect of sand and gravel.

But what I do is spray all the bare 'blasted' metal areas with whatever rattle can I have when I store my blower come spring. Usually after the first snow event of the season the thin paint is gone but the metal is nice and shiny so snow and ice has no toothy surface to adhere to.

My theory was that rust would not form on paint plus snow would slide better on smooth metal, I I've proven that to my satisfaction.

i have to repaint mine every year. i just use rustolium. i also have had to reline the drum area on mine 2 times now due to rocks. i tried every option to keep rocks out, but nothing really works. i never coat mine to prevent sticking as if its too wet to blow i swap out to plow. nothing worse than having to unclog the blower.

Couple times a season spray down the inside with cooking oil.

I am cheap, I just use whatever cooking spray the dollar store has.

Thanks! Will start with fluid film or cooking spray.
