Just a tip to fellow TBNers.

I received in the mail a sale pamphlet from Kubota promoting the liquidation of all snowblowers in stock.
Might just be worth a visit across the border.
They seem to have a lot of stock with all sizes and models like Normand,Agrimetal,Pronovost. etc. standard 3-point, front mounts and pull types etc.
The discounts seem to run 25% and combined with the Can/Us exchange rates (about 25%) you would be saving close to 40% on the retail price.
With free exchange between Can & Us, the border should be no problem.
Also taxes generally can be reclaimed when exported and on a $10K blower the savings do add up.

can you tell me what you know about the tax situation and crossing the border? I need a blower...

When I had a business no taxes were charged for out of Provence sales but then the onus is on the buyer to remit in his home area.
As the seller we only needed a document proving that we had shipped, like even parcel post receipt and naturally a trucker's waybill covered that need which exempted us from charging taxes.
As I recall a US customs entry document also qualified but the buyer needed to process the request for a refund.
The actual border crossing should not be a problem as there is 'free exchange' between Canada and USA. US should not give you any problems other than any personal exemption limits that US customs may have in force, for Canadians importing from US we are allowed a daily $$ limit, higher $$ max when away 3 days etc etc otherwise we do pay some taxes on the overage.
Probably similar entering the US for you. Call US customs and they will advise you.
Naturally once home you are expected to remit your state taxes as I am sure you intend to do.

Were you to have a common carrier (trucking co) to transport the blower the local taxes would be exempt but the trucking fees and required custom brocker fees would eat up any savings.

I imported a canadian made blower yesterday, was very easy. I paid no tax as i was directly exporting (it had been shipped to a location just north of the border though) and simply showed the bill of sale and the country of origin plate on the blower and i was good to go. I live in state with no sales tax so that was not an issue
If you do the crossing yourself with the blower in your possession and it is for personal use (not commercial) and it is made in canada (i believe the kubota's are) then there is no duty, no tax

I checked their inventory online and there are no inverted blowers listed, but it might be worth making a phone call.

I still have the brochure and think there was an 8 ft listed which would be logical as that is what the suburban contractors use.
