I have a Polaris XLT Special.
I do most of my riding in the Allegheny National Forest in western Pa.
Last winters lack of snow put a real damper on my riding .

Hey wolbert,
Cool, I'm from Pa too. We live up in susquehanna county, near the NY boarder. And yes Last winter was the pits!

I did all my super-sleddin' back in my misspent youth in the far north (ever try going over 100 mph on an ice road at minus 40?) .... now I just take it easy on a Pantera 580efi trail machine ... 2 up, heated grips for the passenger so she doesn't whine ...
and we haven't had a lot of snow either .... 2800 miles of trails in Michigan ... and I have 50 miles on the sled in 3 years!

Hi Peter:

Yea been there done that. You should try it for two very long days in a row. I took third in class on my 1974 Polaris 340 mod III Starfire, in the 1974 Midnight Sun 600. They used to run that race between Anchorage and Fairbanks in Alaska, back in the 70's. You should try that with only a couple of inches of suspension. Now I get a good thrill if I can mow at 8 mph.

didn't try that ... but managed several long days getting back from hunting in the Canadian arctic during a severe blizzard. Also quite a few 60 mile high speed runs on the ice road (to the fabulous town of Tuktoyaktuk LMAO).
Back in 72-75 ... when I was doing that every winter ... it was really "risky business" since sleds weren't as dependable as they are now .... and there was no "Triple A".

My high speed sledding days came to a sudden stop back in 77. When a novice ambulance driver pulled onto the track before we were red flagged. Let me tell you the outside of an ambulance is not near as comfortable as the inside.

ow ow ow ....
well, I won't try to match you there .... frostbite is all I've had to suffer ...
got a wife who hates me speeding ... so I can't erecise the 2-up sled at all .... oh well, got the Wing for those days when I need to have a little fun ... and the 'bota for those days when I want more fun ...

For those occasional times that I just have to have my speed fix. I go get my stock 1969 DZ302 Z28 out of the warehouse. However with only 16,427 original miles on her, Those times are few and far between.
