I finally got my snowblower and there are grease fittings all over the place. My blower did not came with a user manual and I was wondering if lithium base grease is good for bearings?

Ya, I noticed my nice title, too bad I can't fix this.

Thanks in advance!

I checked out my Kubota snow blower manual and it didn't specifiy a type of grease. It says to grease it every 8 hours.

Thanks for looking!

I was about to start another thread (using a diferent title) since I'm not getting much feed-back with this one. I thing people are afraid to open a thread from someone who can't spell snow blower

thanks smfcpacfp, I'm sure someone will eventually have an answer for me...

So far, lithium it will be!

The Moly-disulfide grease(the black stuff like the CV axles use)is an excellent choice.Moly EP.I've seen it in Kubota dealers in the Kubota brand at the dealer.Valvoline/NAPA/Carquest also has it as well as others.Best stuff other than Lucas or synthetic-pennies more then lithium.Used for 30 yrs with great results.Good luck!

I've been using Texaco Starplex-2 grease, but last time I was at a Tractor Supply store I got their Traveller Premium Truck and Tractor grease. The Texaco states that it's lithium-based, TSC's says "Formula Trade Secret", whatever that means.

Both are rated GC-LB. On the blower chain, I use Honda motorcycle chain lube.

Any grease is better than no grease. Overthinking the lubrication of implements such as a snowblower is easy to do. Buy grease where it is convenient to buy, and use it as required. Usually every 8 hours or so of running time. In this type of application, "better" grease isn't better enough to debate or worry about.

I agree, about the only special thing I would look for would be that the grease is resistant to washout, given the application. If you are diligent about greasing every 8 hours even that would not be a great concern. Not like any of the greased parts should ever get more than warm.

And to complicate life a little more ...... the manuals caution not to over grease those fittings on bearings
because the seals will "push out of location".

So I guess a little bit ... everywhere ...often.

Flamingo Maxima EP.PDF file on it. Won't wash out. In fact, it's a pain to get out of bearings once used as even Zep parts cleaner fluid doesn't cut it.

Maxima: "Made in the Tropics for the Tropics." Thats the first sentence written in the PDF. Could be good for summer use but I hate moving snow when its just too hot.

Nice try ;) Thanks anyway :)
