I have a gravel drive and when I use "float" mode with my snowplow, the two little feet on the bottom of the blade dig in and scrape gravel up...there's just not enough surface area to support the blade. Does anyone know of aftermarket wheels which would solve this problem? Preferably something that uses the existing pockets in the plow intended for the feet.

Thanks!

we've had good luck welding a bigger pad on the bottom of the
skid shoes,, maybe like 6"X8" or so, with the front and rear edges
turned up at a 45* angle for an inch or so..

I am sure you could fit such a set of wheels. Someone like Northern Hydraulics or an equivalent would likely have the wheels to support the weight and a welding shop could fabricate a post to fit your application. That is the best known option to me. I have an odd situation with my plowing needs, also. I have a 3720 with a 72" Frontier "boom blade" and the skid shoes, which to me do nothing. I plow about one-half mile of non-state private service road and my drive, which is about 400' feet and steep and graveled. I use a landscape rake on the rear and along with the blade. I mentioned this last year in a post and I received a lukewarm response, but I picked up a used landscape rake from the local dealer for $200.00 and keep it on my rear hitch. It does a super job of rolling snow off the gravel and not disturbing or gouging the gravel. In fact, it churns the gravel slightly to offer better "bite" when slick. When the snow melts, one cannot tell that any plowing was done, the driveway appears undisturbed. I also use the rake to supplement the box blade. When servicing my drive, I box blade to get material where I want it and then smooth, or comb, the gravel with the rake. It looks paved. I plow some gravel drives for others in the area when it snows (little this year) and it really is a nice thing to have. If you have other uses for a rake, see if you can price a used one or find one on the cheap, and you might have an attachment that works a bit better for you for just a little more money.
