Darned car looks nicer than my house!!!
Golf ball hittin' SUV drivers around here spend most of their winter hours watching DVDs,waiting on a tow driver to pull em out of a ditch....and yakkin' on a cell phone.
But them folks are my "bread and butter".....Thank God I only gotta smile at 'em 8 or 9 hours a day.....

Hey, your not alone.

Back in the '60's I plowed my dad's drive with a plow that I fashioned with 3/4" plywood and a cutting edge fron an old bed spring angle.
It was re-enforced with well screwed pieces of oak 2 x 4's with 2 arms that went back to a VW beetle bumper.
The arms had hooks fashioned to keep them hanging on to the bumper. The arms were placed inside of the bumper over riders so that they would not slid off to the side.
I bolted a 2 ft length of hockey stick vertically on back of the plow with a length of rope back to the drivers window to raise the plow when I backed up.

Worked great! I recall moving 6-8 inch snow falls with ease.

It was the result of having a new house, no snowblower, an impending snowstorm and a hearty beer buzz--people on beer should not be left alone with power tools!

With the weight of the V6 and some GREAT finland-made snowtires NOKIAN HAKKEPELITAs I plowed as much as 14" of wet snow. Waxing the plywood with ski wax and a propane torch was key.

bobodu- no the gravely is up in VT--sum bch still starts on the second pull--52 years later.

piloon--VW sounds slick--there ain't too much you Canadian fellers can't figure how to envolve a hockey stick in...eh? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You can't be a real redneck.
There is a great big obvious flat spot on that plow frame WITH NO COOLER ATTACHED AND NO BUCK STRAPPED TO IT. Added weight to keep the blade down ya know.

I sure hope the driveway is straight. My 2x10 and 4x4 plow that was bolted to the bumper on my '79 D100 busted on the second turn in my driveway (clipped a red oak). My problem wasn't beer, it was a man named Walker. As a matter of fact it still is. No cooler required. I bought a used wheel horse after that episode when I sobered up. Carried it home in the 6' bed of the D100. There was bits of 2x10 all over the interstate.
That was a while ago, the only thing that has changed is the size of my (toys) tools (and liver).

Get yourself one of them plastic bucks and hang it from a tree by the back legs. The neighbors will appreciate it. And while your at it get a small plastic poodle and duct tape it to the neck of the buck.

Happy plowing, mind the neighbors mail boxes.
