So I look at best hardware store around and they got nothin... I finally head over to the dealer. He says I'll give you one since you bought the tractor from me. I'm sure glad he did because with tax one of those is right around😭 $25. Holy crap. I thought the filters were nuts but this is right outa the park.

It was nice that he gave you one. I would make trip to a locksmith to have a spare made. It will most likely have to be cut by hand but it will be less than $25.

I forgot to mention that I went to one. Due to the width he said there wasn't any blank that would work. He made me one up free using an old style ford blank. He said it probably wouldn't work. He was right. Too wide so I gave it the quickie grind. But he was right. Of course I didn't try very hard because I was reading about 3 to 5 dollar keys For tractors. If it happens again I'll thin a blank down carefully then have it cut.
$25 for a key is just plain robbery any way you cut it and when you combine it with those outrageous filter prices Massey takes a big step down in my view.

That's what make them so easy to steal, even heavy equipment is key alike.

Edited to add: That's the bad part. The good part is that a farmer can leave his tractor locked and I can come along and work on it with only having a few keys in my inventory. Also if you loose your keys you can just run to the neighbour and borrow one untill you have a chance to go to town. For me town is 30 miles one way.

You can get a ring of universal keys on eBay for about $100 USD.

Oh my, I would have really thought a locksmith would have had a blank to match.

I looked at the key they gave me, it's not even the same as the other yet works fine. Weird eh?
