Rake So i was surely surprised with my landscape rake shopping today

For some reason I had in my mind landscape rakes cost between 4-500 bucks for 6 footers. I head to my kubota dealer and see that Landprides are 600ish and Woods are 800. These were out of my budget so I head to Tractor supply. Their Countyline brand was 469 but I didn't like the construction. Seemed to light duty to me. So I head back to my dealer to "think" about my purchase some more. That's when I was actually told the prices.

They did have a 6 foot Leinbach for 450 bucks. Seemed better made than Tractor supply. I was told the Leinbach's are decently made but don't really have the spring back memory on the spikes as do the landpride and woods. So I inquired about buying landprides spikes/tynes to attach to my landpride blade. Still 600 bones. So long story short I bought the Leinabch. Worst case scenario I'll be replacing tynes here and there if needed.

Take a look at one of the rakes that don't have good spring steel in them that have been used a bit.
The tines are not ruined to the point you really need to replace them but they are not in a straight row anymore.
Hard to do finish work with an uneven rake.

I would have went the extra now rather than cursing it later unless your just going to rake leaves and light debris.
IMHO.
If you take it easy on it it should be ok.

I have Brushhog landscape rake. I have broken several tines, I just replace them with new tines I order from Agrisupply. They are not very expensive. If you rake heavy brush as I do and catch a rock or a stump you will bend or break tines, or worse yet bent / twist the rake tine frame. I did twist and bent my rake tine frame. I bent it back and welded a heavy steel tube across the back. Hopefully it will hold up Next time, I will build a new rake frame like some of the TBN members have. My advice is the rake frame is more important than the tines.

The main use for this rake will be for maintaining an asphalt/gravel driveway and some trail maintenance in the woods. In the event I bend a tine, I have access to a torch to bend it back I suppose. If they break, well I'll just replace them. The frame itself seems to be decent so, hopefully it'll all work out.

I have the Leinbach 7' rake and have not had a problem. I used it extensively after we cleared 8 acres of timber and when a tine would bend I just pushed it back. Love the Leinbach :thumbsup:

I borrowed a rake from a friend that was top of the line (YORK) and the tines bent as easy as the ones on my Leinbach. Both of them did the job just fine.
I would not replace the tines until you have to.

I have the same 7' Leinbach rake, it's seen years of hard service and I'm quite happy with it. I bought mine at an auction $350 and the rake was only used 1 time.
