Re: So many ZTR\'s?(conculsion)

Landry - Thanks for the info. Now that I know that such a thing exists, I'll pursue it further. I've E-mailed Kohler and I've come up with the telephone number of a Kohler dealer in a different town. One way or another, I should be able to pin this down. Thanks again.

Re: So many ZTR\'s?(conculsion)

The Kohler factory tech. did say that you needed to maintain the correct oil pressure when adding things on to their motors. It should be around 30 to 40 psi. I called because I thought that the remote filter's ports were too small and he was more concerned about them being too big. If you do lower the oil pressure too much he said that the valves will start to make noise. I have toyed with adding another oil cooler in line with the filter but for now I think that this is overkill. I would like to know what the operating temps should be for this motor? You can't touch the filter when this machine is up to temp. Rich.

rja, i can't answer your question about the proper operating temp, but I have delt with hydraulic systems and hydraulic tools before I retired. We frequently got complaints about the tools getting hot, and after some various testing and reserch found that around 120 degrees is enough to burn skin. I don't think that you could expect the oil filter to be cool enough to touch after warm-up.
