I understand the ASV dealer meeting was last weekend. What's new?

I don't know about the meeting, but I talked to the sales office yesterday at headquarters ASV, and said "I'm ready to buy but don't want a last years model, what's coming out next year"...he said there are no changes.

For what it's worth.

My dealer here in wisconsin is going and my salesman said awhile ago that the meeting is sometime in early October. I would bet that they will be coming out with something. They always have at their other dealer meetings from what I know.

I heard there was a dealer meeting last weekend, but I guess it wasn't the big one.

My ASV salesman told me just recently that he's attending the ASV meeting Oct. 8th thru the 11th. I met with him in order to test drive a SR-80 that he had in stock even though I plan on buying a RC-100. I'm hoping that they'll announce some improvements to the RC-100. Such as using the SR-80/70 style track system and rocker style foot throttle.

I'm also hoping that they don't switch to the SR-80 cab interior that is really narrow for your legs. The SR-80 that I tested had next to no knee room, you had to sit there with your legs pointing straight ahead which was uncomfortable. I commented about this issue to my salesman and he said that there were two different interiors for the SR-80 and that one of them had a real narrow leg area.

So we have just a couple of weeks until we can hear what they have to announce.

The Oct. dates Gamma posted are correct. I don't know what will be released if anything. They keep that close to the vest. The SR-80 has two versions and one is the extra spacious one for the bigger guys.

We will see what happens in Oct. I unfortunately won't be at the dealer meeting as I had a previous trip scheduled to So. Korea but I am sure we will get reports from the meeting quickly.

I am 6'2" and have the SR80 with the cab you describe and it seems fine for me. Mine is the MP2 cab, the update cab is MP1. The newer cab (MP1) is one inch wider on each side, and it doesn't have a lap bar. The good thing about the MP2's is that all the options are included.

Did you notice how smooth the ride is?

JMF why dont you tell us how that SR 80 is now..I know you where having issues early on..Get that thing dialed in?? ;)

I like the SR 80 but heard last week that the new suspension system/multi link has some issues being kept hush hush...Some sort of link or rod/pins shearing off??? Anyone hear of this?

I did have some electric problems at the start, but some new fuses, a diode here and there, a seat switch and a starter and I was off and running. In short order I completed a trail around my 40+ acres. The mass of vines (some 9" in diameter) and the thorns were a challenge for the SR80, and although it has been dry here in Western New York State, the creek/swamp crossing still required every inch of the 20" track system. The machine is smooth, fast and quiet. It rides smoother than my UTV. The Red Dot air conditioning system starts cooling in minutes and makes the cockpit as cold as you like. I was surprised that curl strength is not as good as lift strength, but it handles, albeit with some finesse, grubbing, digging and grading with relative ease. I am still not at full throttle, so after it is broken in a little and I push the revs up, I expect it will have more than adequate power for the work I have lined up. I have driven many of the compact track machines, and none compare to this SR80. I know there is trade off regarding the relatively shorter undercarriage life, but even if this is so, the smooth ride would be worth it. As for the multi link track system I'm not sure what that is, but I do know my track system is the ISR-4 suspension. Well back to the barn, preventive maintenance is daily ritual.

I'm 6' 1.5" and didn't like the way the SR-80 interior kept my legs and knees close together. Obviously the machine I was in had the MP2 cab.

The RedDot A/C system didn't keep the cab cool and I had it cranked all the way to max. cool. I drove around for the first five minutes waiting for it to start cooling and it didn't do anything but blow hot *** air into the cab. The salesman jumped up on the tracks and fiddled with something for several minutes and it finally started blowing somewhat cool air, but the cab never did cool down even fifteen minutes later. It was maybe in the lower 90's when I was driving it around. I took one look at the two cooling fans it uses and right away thought that they would get busted to pieces backing into tree branches and brush, so you'd definitely need some optional protection for them in the trees & brush.

Hopefully it was just the one machine that I drove that has the A/C problems.

The fan grill does break but it is tougher than you think. When I initially looked at the roof mounted air conditioner I had visions of the whole thing being ripped off by the first low branch, but it doesn't seem to be a problem. The heat around here only hits high 80's and I have the cooling knob backed down a little and the fan on low speed.

Does anyone know what that knurl nut in the front of the suspension seat does? I twisted it and couldn't figure out what I was adjusting.

It's not mentioned in the operators manual?

No clues in the owner's or parts manual and turning it doesn't seem to change anything. I'm sure I'm missing something.

JMF,
Does the knurl nut have a small image stamped on the front of it like a person sitting in a seat?.Maybe a +/- sign too..My CAT has the same thing ..It is a suspension seat and the tighter you crank it in the stiffer the seat suspension gets...If your a lightweight like me I would leave it nearly at the least amount of tension...But you have the new suspension so it may not even effect your ride...
Probly more of a gimick anyway I cranked on mine as you did and didnt know what the heck it was doing until I actually was getting into the cab and DROPPING into the seat.....I felt the seat drop alot with the tension set light...I felt very little drop if I cranked it tighter..Youd have to hit something pretty big or run off a major grade/ditch to get your seat to jump like that!!

I think you're right. While loosening it, I felt the seat go down but I think it was in fact lessening the suspension tension.

Talked with my ASV salesman yesterday, mostly about the upcoming deer hunting season, but he did say that ASV was definitely going to be releasing something (didn't know what). He also said that ASV was promising a real exciting dealer meeting with lots of announcements since it is going to be their 25th anniversary of building rubber track machines. He said he'd give me all the information when he returns from the meeting.
